Plato, Greek Mythology and Wedding Decor

As you plan your wedding, you might disagree about the wedding cake flavour, your wedding reception decor theme, and even how many members to have in your bridal party. Despite it all, one fact will forever hold true: Planning your wedding day to celebrate your love, and the beginning of your happily every after, is one of the most special and magical times in your life.

In fact, if you think about it, among the billions of people on this planet, you lucked out and found your one true love. The one person that completes you. When you look at it this way, it makes it sound like quite the challenge! Doesn’t it? Well according to Greek Mythology, Zeus is the one to blame.

Plato explains it best in this excerpt from Symposium:

“According to Greek Mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs and a head with two faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate beings, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves.
… And when one of them meets the other half, the actual half of himself, whether he be a lover of youth or a lover of another sort, the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy and one will not be out of the other’s sight, as I may say, even for a moment…”

What is even more amazing than Greek Mythology itself is the gorgeous imagery it brings to mind. Luxurious, ethereal imagery inspired by the various paintings and renderings of the Greek Gods.

Can you imagine how grandiose a Greek Mythology inspired wedding decor and design would be? Well, here’s an idea of what it would all look like.

Let’s start with the wedding cake. Of course not just any cake would do. This cake has to be one of a kind. One so exceptional that it would impress the Cake Boss himself! Something like this breathtaking wedding cake below:

Let’s not forget how opulent the centrepieces would be at a Greek Mythology inspired wedding reception. They certainly would have to be on par with the rest of the decor at the wedding venue:
